How We Do Things

What you need to know about your order with us;

1. Our turn around time is dependant on the number of orders we are getting and the number of plants per order. At present it is 3-4 weeks.

2. Tracking information is supplied to your email and mobile phone number from Australia Post when posted.

3. We have two nurseries. Some of our plants are grown in a warmer location. We visit our other nursery once a fortnight to pick up plants. If your order arrives the day after we have been to our other nursery and your order requires plants from the other nursery, there will be a delay of an two weeks.

4. Australia Post works 7 days a week. Interstate parcels do not sit around in post offices over the weeked when posted on a Friday.

5. We are a Boutique Nursery. We also grow the majority of plants that we sell. We don't send updates on orders. We just try to do them as quickly as possible. In busy times such as spring and autumn, if you are concerned, just send us an email. We are honourable people who are working to the best of our ability and try to achieve the best results for all our customers, whether they have ordered 1 plant or 20.

6. We request that all parcels are signed for (except during pandemic times) as that is the safest way for us to know that the parcel has been delivered. If you don't want to sign for the parcel, please leave us a message in the 'Comments' area provided. If you have any concerns regarding the delivery of your parcel, please contact Australia Post on 13 11 18.  We can't help you because the parcel is addressed to you. If you want to change the delivery address of your parcel while it is in transit, you can do that on the Australia Post website.

Australia Post offer your postman to place your parcel in various places on your property. We can click "Authority to Leave" and then choose the following options that are limited to;

1. At the front door.

2. On the front porch.

3. Any safe place on my premises.

4. Under carport/ veranda.

5. In my letterbox (if size allows).

6. By the side gate.

Australia Post employees are not allowed to go 'around the back of your house' or inside any building on your property. If you request something like "at the backdoor", or "in the garage" this will become "any safe place on my premises", or it will be carded for you to pick up at your local post office.

Australia Post works 7 days a week. Even though your local post office is closed, Australia Post isn't. For interstate orders, if you are concerned about your parcel sitting around in closed post offices, don't be. They will be in transit.  In the middle of summer, the plants in our parcels will be fine being in transit for up to 2 weeks. In winter 3 weeks. They go to sleep in the dark and don't wake up until you open the box.

OUR HISTORY

We are a boutique, rare plant nursery, in Ashbourne, Victoria, 7kms from Woodend, in the Macedon Ranges. We are not open to the public. We sell our plants through our website. Our nursery is located on our farm, where we have free-range chickens for eggs, a home for our border collie BooBoo, five cows; Daisy, Lucky, Feddie, Naughty, Jumper, a Moray Eel named Cody, a Macaw named Molly, and a Magpie named Harriotto.

Peter Harris has been involved in horticulture for over 35 years and has specialised in the growing of rare plants for many of these. He has worked with the Melbourne City Council growing plants for the Fitzroy Gardens, the Chandler Nurseries and in his own tube stock nursery, which became the largest in Victoria. Peter grows the majority of our plants and bulbs and plans our mail order days.

Jesse Exiner has been involved in property and garden restoration, which includes his last project at 'Mawarra', the Edna Walling garden in Sherbrooke, Victoria. This garden was totally restored over five years and the house restored over three years. Jesse sold this property in 2010. Jesse is respondsible for the website and customer liason via email and telephone. We love our work and are very proud of the quality of plants we are achieving. Please enjoy our mail-order website.
