What does it mean for us and you?

All orders for plants going interstate will have to be sprayed with the appropriate chemicals, be packed and then a Plant Health Certificate supplied. This is a time consuming and costly exercise but will prevent the spread of these insects from infecting other states.

This will come as a cost to the purchaser of our plants at an amount yet to be determined. Some nurseries are putting up their prices on plants to cover the cost of this process (the ones with large turnovers of plants), and some will be charging a standard fee which has been used for WA and TAS spraying and Plant Health Certificates in the past, which is $25.00

This is a huge blow for small businesses like ours as our profit margins are already low due to the cost of postage, which we contribute to, to stay competitive.

All orders already received until the 31st of December 2025 will be honoured with complementary spraying and a Plant Health Certificate at no cost to the customer.

Victoria, ACT and WA are the only states that are exempt from these new biosecurity rules.
